Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

Should you ever tell tour aging parents the truth about the truth
by Star tiger insince finding out the truth about the truth myself and having successfully extricated myself and my parents about the jw's, i find myself with a new dilema that being they still believe the bible as a literal book for their salvation as i has read all of thomas paines works and how the bible is not very good for the human family, as they are of advancing years would it be inappropriate to shatter their illusions of some kind of paradise and let them flounder in a moral precipice and wonder what their lives have been about.
on the flip side once their time has come how would i feel for not telling them their false views.
at the moment i am in the deist point of view, with a tendency of the agnostic, it is quite a dilema!.

Aquaponics for survival
by Star tiger inin a new world of ever more dependant people the real way to go is self sufficiency, i'm now looking into the aquaponics fish and vegetables as the way of protecting the family from societal destruction, i know that in the us preppers are quite common but in the uk it is seen as a bit of a joke, i'd still rather do something than being without food and water if the worse happens, not armaggedon because that is a total fantasy dreamed up by the jw's.. .
i'm interested if other people are preparing for dangers that may possibly happen.. .

Does anybody still believe in God and the Bible?
by tornapart ini just want to know out of interest how many here still believe in god and christ and that the bible is god's word.
my faith in the wts is gone but i still love god and his son.

Hi everyone,
I almost wish I'd never done any research and never read crisis of conscience at least I thought that the new system would happen and I would get in a default by the main witnesses, and they would include me as second best. During my time associating with the witnesses I thought that I would never get to forty without the armageddon happening so didn't need to worry about a career or money now I am forty two without an established career or savings, and now without any great hope for the future, without my own effort, which at the moment I find tricky to get any motivation!
Things can only get better, so they tell me, but there again new Labour's anthem was that in 1997 and look at us now!

right now we have the technology, artifical hearts, limbs, etc.
recent news articles i've read about how the technology now on reading thoughts, already people can think of turning on tv, electrical things and it happening with a chip implanted.

I love Aubrey De Grey thoughts on life extention, I think if we are to believe in extending our life beyond it's natural time I would rather put my faith in mankind rather than any God that appears to love us, I wager that this scenario has happened a million times before, just because God is bored!!!

Is it possible to believe in something you can't prove?
by Star tiger inthere is something i have always thought about, can anybody prove the existence of an benevelent god, who claims to love us but constantly proves to elusive, and is a matter of interpretation in the magic book, how can any of us puny humans know his ways, we only know how to procreate, live and eventually die, surely a truely loving father would protect his offspring , i'm thinking that maybe the god of the jehovah's witnesses is truely the demiurge the creator god and not the almighty father that knows all, why else would he be jealous?.
by the way i'm getting fed up with these arguments, and am thinking along the lines of a deist creator one creates and flies on, or even it doesn't exist and it's more of a panspermia thing!.
all the bible does is self validate itself, once you have bought into it, it's very tricky to get out, it's good there are sites like this!!!.

The Uk is the laughing stock of Europe and the rest of the world we accept all scumbags and don't seem to be able to do anything about it, because in my opinion we are the only country in Europe that abides by the rules, yes they have the final laugh, I wish the coalition would have a backbone and tell Europe to back off, and we could trade more with the US and the commonwealth, it's the socalist left I blame opening our borders to the dregs of the planet and denigrating this once great country to the crap place it is now!
